The UK vape tax plan, due to be announced in the March 2024 budget, is likely to increase the cost of e-liquid by at least a quarter. A government source said a vape tax is almost inevitable as part of the spring budget, which will be announced by chancellor Jeremy Hunt on March 6.

Belgium

From January 1, 2024, Belgium will implement a new tax on E-liquid, which will be 0.15 euros per milliliter. The Finance Minister said the tax was aimed at discouraging 15 to 24-year-olds from vaping, particularly those who had never smoked before.

Azerbaijan

Starting from January 1, 2024, the consumption tax on disposable vapes, hookahs and their substitutes in Azerbaijan has been increased from 0.25 manats to 2 manats (approximately US$1.18).

Michigan, USA

Recently, Michigan lawmakers in the United States proposed a series of bills related to vape, including a 57% wholesale tax on all vape products, nicotine pouches and smokeless tobacco products. The state Senate will continue discussion of the bills on January 10.

Hawaii, USA

The US state of Hawaii has imposed a 70% wholesale tax on vape products, which took effect on January 1, 2024. Previously, the state did not tax vape products.
